Dominic was able to
continue his studies of Wutan Chinese martial arts when he moved to Plymouth from Bournemouth.
He writes:
“I am 20 years
old and I am currently a student at the University of Plymouth
studying Economics with International Relations. I started training in Bournemouth when I was 16 after noticing Wutan Kung
Fu lessons taking place at the local sports centre that I was a member of.
I started with just one lesson a week but quickly attended more, including
both Tai Chi and Sanda kick boxing. After taking
the decision to move to Plymouth
for University, I was fortunate enough to find an active Wutan Club in the
area, and I have since made good friends and training partners.
While training with
Wutan my fitness has greatly improved but I have also felt other positive
effects. The self defence aspect has helped me build confidence in a social
environment and gradings have put me in good
stead for when I have had to do presentations for my coursework.
Additionally, training has given me the discipline to focus effectively on
my studies and no doubt will continue to do so as I move to the work
place.
Having recently
achieved my brown belt, I am realizing how much more there is to learn in
the world of martial arts. I look forward to a future with Wutan and the
opportunity it gives me to learn more about Kung Fu.”
